Very good Malaysian food with brisk and efficient service. From order to food on the table was 2 minutes! Order too many dishes to sample lukevwe did and we ran out of table space. The wings were delicious and large portion - enough for two people. The Roti Canai and Roti Rendang were very good as was the hainanese chicken. The curry laksa is more Singaporean style vs Malaysian so to me a bit more subtle and sweeter - the two large shrimp were very fresh and tasty. The char kwe tuay was very good with lots of Chinese sausage and fish cake. The only dish we thought average was the chicken curry - the chicken leg was turkey size and tough. We lucked out as there was a small lull and we got a table without a wait. The lines built up right after we were seated. Park in underground garage.

Food is really tasty — like, genuinely good. But the portions are tiny. One order definitely won't fill you up, so plan on ordering a few things if you're actually hungry. Service and vibe are just whatever — not bad, not great, totally forgettable. Clean enough, but nothing that makes you wanna come back for the experience. All in all, it's a solid 4 stars for me. Go for the flavor, just don't expect to leave full or impressed by the service.

Walked in and got seated right away at 12:25 on a weekday! Got seated towards the window area. Theres 3 tables. Im small, so i can easily slide in the booth area. The gap was very small. It was uncomfortable to scoot towards the booth, passing people food and bowls. They had to move some of the plates. It was awkward. Roti canai - 10/10 - this is the one thing i always get! It was more sour than spicy today. Highly recommend to try if you can take a little heat! Their roti is delicious! Dip and eat! Dry Wanton Mee w/ Curry Chicken - 9/10 - chicken was tender and juicy! Their noodless were in sauce so it was not too dry. Delicious! Wonton soup - 7/10 - soup was flavorful! Their wontons could have more seasoning. It was more bland than the soup Kaya toast - 10/10 - they did not skimp out on the spread! Ratio was good! Lemon ice tea - 10/10 - cant go wrong with this drink!

I was excited to try Ipoh Kopitiam given its high rating and Bib Gourmand status! I'm a fan of Malaysian food, but I don't often have it in the states. We ordered the Laksa Curry, Hainan Chicken, Char Kway Teow, Roti Canai, and Kaya Toast. Everything was quite delicious. The Laksa had immense flavour. The broth was lovely and the ingredients were great as well. My favourite was the tofu chunks. 5/5 The Hainan Chicken tasted incredible as well, but the portion size was small and a little disappointing. I think the standout feature of this dish was actually the rice, which was already packed with flavour (garlic?) and had amazing texture. 4/5 The Char Kway Teow was good, but nothing too extraordinary. Great smokiness and ingredients, but I personally thought the noodle texture was a little too soft. Maybe I just prefer the slightly chewier texture in the Cantonese counterpart dish. Portion size was great! 4/5 The Roti Canai was delightful. The roti was some of the best roti I've ever had. The texture was incredibly soft, yet still a little chewy, and the flavour was so buttery yet delicate. The curry dip was dense and powerful too. However as delicious as it was, $10 for two pie

Came to Ipoh Kopitiam in Alhambra last Friday with my parents and it turned out to be such a comforting meal. We ordered the Laksa curry, Singaporean style Hainanese chicken rice, and the Char Kway Teow. All three dishes were solid, but the one that really stood out was the Hainanese chicken rice. The chicken was tender and juicy, and the rice was packed with flavor on its own. Once you add the sauces, everything just comes together perfectly. That was easily the most memorable dish of the night. Our second favorite was the Char Kway Teow. The flat noodles had great texture with a nice smoky wok flavor. It was savory, slightly sweet, and super satisfying. The Laksa curry was rich and comforting with a good balance of spice and coconut. Ambiance is your typical modern cafe and the noise level was moderate, so we could still talk comfortably. Service was a bit on the slower side, but that’s pretty standard for the 626 so we weren’t surprised. If you want to save some time, you can join the Yelp waitlist ahead of time which definitely helps minimize the wait.
